Sooo I BC'ed yesterday, it was all nice and coily and whatnot, but I had to go in later yesterday to get a set of kinky twists with extensions (because my parents haven't gotten used to my BC'ed hair yet <_< ). I had a lot of shrinkage, so the beautician decided to tamper with my kinks to stretch out my hair for twisting...and she combed my hair DRY and used a blow dryer! There HAS to be another way to stretch out my hair without treating my hair like THAT, right?? Could I section my hair into braids before I go??

Yes! When I get my hair braided, I make sure it is detangled myself, and put my hair in big braids. I think it's easier for the braider to work with my hair in a semi-straightened state, that doesn't involve damaging heat.

I co-sign on that!See My Albums
There was nothing strange about your hair. It was strange what your hair had to deal with.

You know you can tell her what you want and don't want did to your hair since you are paying her. If you don't want heat applied to your head at all then you have to let her know up front or go to someone who will respect your wishes.

Congrats on your BC! I agree with everyone else. Try and detangle it yourself and let the hair dresser know what's okay and not okay to do to your hair.

You should arrive with your hair all ready detangled and braided or banded. Do a search if you don't know what banding is. Remember you are paying this beautician for her services, so don't let her do anything you don't want done!
