Hello everyone! I am new to trying to go natural. I am having a problem with getting my hair to curl. I wash and condition my hair. I have somewhat wavy hair. After washing and towel drying my hair, but not completely, I take small sections of my hair and twist them. Then I roll the twist up. I let it dry overnight and take out the rollers and undo the twist the next day.
There are curls but they are not consistent throughout my hair. They look better in the front and on the sides but the center is usually messed up. It kinda looks like a curly afro but its not right. It looks matted and sloppy.
Any suggestions on what I should do? Should I change a step in my routine?
Thanks

maybe you're using too big of sections in the center.
maybe you aren't rolling/twisting tight enough in the center
maybe the center is not completely dry when you take down the twists/rollers
the problem is something in how you're rolling and twisting. as long as you're using same roller sizes then the curls should be uniform

I'm curious about your products as well.
Are you using a leave-in conditioner?
What do you use for moisuture?
Do you seal with an oil?
I would think matting is a sign of dryness, which only moisture can remedy.LIFE ISN'T ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS...IT'S ABOUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN!

Hi noidea85,
With some people ... and I am one of those people, if I do not use any end papers on rollers, my hair will become dry looking and frizz instead of show more definition. I also agree with the other ladies on using some type of moisture to seal in while it dries.
Also, my daughter's natural hair (no r.elaxer on her at all) is a different texture in the back so I have to use much more oil in the middle of her head compared to the rest or it will frizz while the rest will look totally different.
Sometimes it's trial and error and then you will find that right mix.
