I've been natural for almost 20 years. During most of that time, my hair was about bra strap length. Well, I've been drooling over chunky fros for about 5 years. In August, I went to a salon and had my favorite stylist cut my hair. She chopped off about 10 inches and I was happy, but it wasn't the lenth I wanted. After a month, I just picked up the scissors and cut more hair off. Now . . . I luv my hair!!!! Every time I look at it--every . . . single . . . time--I grin.

sometimes, but i think a big mental change happened last week.

I was asked to straighten my hair for a modeling gig, did and for the first time EVER I can actually say i think it looks BETTER in it's natural state.

The straight haired look, just looks off to me now( on me)

Yesterday I stared at my hair all day. My flat twistout was slamming. I just loved it. Now as I was slathering my amla mixture in my hair was stretched. I could tell it's growing slowly but surely.

Or sometimes I'll wake up in the morning and see myself in the mirror and I'll get really excited over seeing my hair.

I don't know if this has to do with the fact that I BCd 2 months ago, but I hope these sudden love moments never end.
I never really hated it. I shunned nappy styles because I ~thought~ others hated it or I'd be judged. However, I get what you're saying. I have those moments of "wow, my hair is pretty awesome" a lot.

It's usually when I'm handling it. Right now, I just pin curl it, take it down walk around with it messy and unkempt then rinse and repeat I just don't put a lot of time into my hair.

for me, it wasn't sudden...from the moment i decided to become napptural, it was a beautiful love relationship with my hair. as i head toward my 3rd nappiversary, each time i look in the mirror, it's love anew.

I've been napptural for almost 9 years, and I've loved my hair from the start... Right now, though, I can honestly say I'm perfectly happy... I like the length and the thickness and softness and everything... If it didn't grow another inch, I could die happy... I try not to stay in the mirror too much, but you know it's bad when you're looking at your reflection in everything (i.e. your cell phone, car windows, glass doors, computer screens...) lol!!!

I am loving the feel of my curl hair growing out of my scalp. It is so exciting! It is just like being in love...it is being in love.
