    Default Stretched Hair

I used to be the Queen of wash-and-go's (well, not really, but you know). But taking hours out of my day to deal with my hair isn't realistic. Lately, I've been wearing my hair twisted and pinned for 3-4 days at a time, only taking it down to wash my scalp.

I know that continued straightening with heat will mess with your texture, but I'm wondering if doing this [stretching] continuously will have any affect on my hair texture?

I LOVE my texture, and I don't want it to change. I know a lot of you ladies keep your hair stretched, and I think that y'all are the perfect ones to ask.

    TIA

Stretching your hair with twists or braids shouldn't affect your texture at all. If that's all it took to loosen up texture there'd be no need for r.elaxers or heat tools.

I only stretch with twists/braids. I've never tried banding.

I find that stretching significantly reduces the amount of knots & tangles that I get. It does nothing to change the texture of your hair.

yeah, i've been wearing stretched styles for a long time now and have not noticed any changes to texture that i would attribute to stretching.

over the holidays i banded my hair for the first time and loved the results, so i will definitely do this again.

basically, for me, i have only noticed positive changes to my hair, no tangles and relatively easy detangling sessions since incorporating stretched styles!

Just chiming in to say that stretching is very beneficial to my hair. And it certainly won't change your texture. I can switch right back to my fros and puffs with no problems.

I always band my hair before doing twist on dry hair and I wear a lot of twists/twist outs.

Now that it is winter all I do is stretch my hair with either braids or twist. My texture has never changed and always goes back to being nice, fluffy and coily. Stretching also keeps me out of my head for a week also which is a good thing because I have a serious problem with keeping my hand in my fro.
