Hey Wugambina, is that as a result of damage from perms? Is it growing back in? Just curious.

I'm sure it's a result of perms and heat damage to my scalp over 20 years. I can remember the curling irons and dryers burning my scalp more than a few times.

There does seem to be some growth. I'll try to post some pics of this particular area this weekend.

    Default You be the judge

I think the way it's combed can be deceiving - the pics below were taken within moments of each other. (The pic above is from April.)

I have a similar problem and have been using Nioxin natural products. The shampoo has sulfates but after seeing little to no growth in a back section of my hair I was willing to try almost anything. I've gone to protective styling for the past month now and using the Nioxin and believe I'm seeing some growth. Please ladies keep this thread alive. I don't know about anyone else but I definitely need your support. Wish I had discovered this thread earlier. I will be using the Nioxin for 2 mos end of July 2010 and will post before and after pics then.

I have a big spot just like yours Wugambina, but you can't see my scalp. There is a little bit of hair there in that crown area. It's really short though and just doesn't seem to grow or either grows and breaks off. I've been trying to get it to grow. It's the reason why I stopped using relaxers. I try to wear hairstyles that disguise it.

    Default Before Pics

I'm getting a bit excited, I was able to do about 1/2 inch coil curls in my area this past week so I've decided to post my before pic because I know I couldn't have done that before. I'll still wait to post the after 2 mos on nioxin pics as I mentioned before at end this month. It's as if I'm worried I'm not seeing what I'm seeing, u know what I mean?

    Default Hair Loss

I had the same problem, but mine was probably from years of perm. Scarring under hair follicles. You probably have some form of dermatitis combined with mild alopecia. At this point, it's best to go to the dermatologist. I was prescribed three different type of topical medications, which pretty much cleared it up and promoted hair growth in that area. That . with taking biotion everyday, my patch is growing wonderfully

Thanks for keeping this thread going...

I'm posting the after nioxin pics today. I do believe you're correct cece. I haven't visited a dermatologist about this but for me it was definitely some form of heat or chemical damage done to the follicles in this area. I never wore braids but have relaxed for over 10 years and had glued in tracks at one time. So any one of those could have contributed to the balding area.

I do think using the nioxin 6 for the past 2 months has greatly helped this area become much healthier. I also have used the nioxin vitamins and although they've yielded good results I recently began using Andrew Lessman's Healthy Hair, Skin and Nails simply because I liked the ingredient list. Anyway nappturals let me know what you think of the pics.

The below was taken in March after using henna for about 3 mos.
