Braid out- failed
Hi. I have been trying to do a braid out on my hair and it has not been successful. I experience alot of frizziness with no defined curl. I shampooed and deep conditioned my hair first, then I applied my shea butter and coconut oil as the products on my hair before braiding it. I let my hair dry 75% before braiding. Please help

Next time try braiding your hair while it's wet/damp after you've applied your products. Then let it dry completely before you unravel the braids.

SweetAmbrosia stole the words right out of my mouth.
Also you may try adding a lil gel, but the most important thing is letting the hair dry all the way before undoing the style.Old SN name Soontobenappy

I agree with the other ladies. I get mine braided while wet and put a little setting foam on the braids, i let it dry all the way and then take them down. I am transisitoning under a stylist so I wear my braids for a week then take them down for a lovely very defined braid out. This way I can avoid frizz and stretch my style until I get to my next appointment. I am in my 7th month of transitioning and this hair style has been my saving grace!

If you are plaiting, and not flat braiding, you might experience frizzy roots. After braiding/plaiting, twist the hair at the roots and clip, using small duck bill clips. This will allow the roots to dry flat and smooth.

Probably the two most important things when attempting a braidout is braiding your hair while it's still relatively wet and waiting until they're completely dry before taking them down. You should be able to see a change in curl definition when you braid while your hair is wet.
