Question How did you acheive BSL

    Hello all!

I am new here so I hope I'm not repeating a post.

For all of you that have achieved BSL (not locs) how did you do it.

What is your hair type? (Mine is OS)
    What was your regimen?
What products did and didn't work for you?
    What hairstyles did you do?

    Thanks in advance..

Almost there. The only way I ever got my hair to be longer was to lock it.

i was 2 inches from bsl before i loced, i got there through protective styling, henna, and a pretty good moisture and protein balance.

I can't speak for myself because I have not yet reached BSL, but I've heard many ladies claiming protective styling, regular moisture, and gentle handling (among a few other things) for helping them reach that length.

Chances are if women in your family have long hair then DNA will help as well.

For me, genetics played a big role. My hair always grew fast...but broke easily. Without a perm or heat tools, but with pretty bad maintenance and never a protective style - twist-outs daily - I was holding steady at APL for years. When I started really taking care of my hair - mainly washing & moisturizing more regularly, it got to BSL. That was still without much in the way of protective styles. I've been doing them recently and I do see more retention/length.

At the start of my transitioning, I was BSL. Now that I am natural, my goal is to get past that. Based on my research, natural hair will grow. You just have to take care of it and your body properly. 1. keep your clean, conditioned and moisturized. 2. find a routine and products that work for you (stay away from harsh products; get into a habit of reading ingredients before you buy). 3. wear protective styles (styles that would protect you ends, low manipulation). 4. take multi-vitamins. 5. drink lots of water. 6. watch what you eat. 7. exercise.
