Using TIDE for your fro?
Am I the only one that didn't know Angela Davis used TIDE to make her fro' stand up? Apparently it gave her the extra volume for a perfect fro'. This makes me wonder what other non traditional methods have others used or heard of for hair. ALthough I WILL NOT be trying out tide on my hair. lol

If she was using tide, I wonder what it was like washing it out? Or maybet she just rinsed since the soap was already in it? I just say better Angie than me!

Not such a stretch. Tide is detergent...only difference from mainstream shampoo is the concentration and type of detergent cleansers, and it is probably not pH balanced for hair.
It would have dried the living daylights out of her hair though. Her cuticles must have been toast if she used that regularly in combination with an Afro pick. But girlfriend's hair would be CLEAN! :P"The work of science is to substitute facts for appearances and demonstrations for impressions" - John Rushkin

For those black folks who weren't "black" enough to rock an authentic AFRO (caps intended), Tide and other harsh detergents helped stiffen the hair enough to stand out. I think perhaps that might have been where the idea of laundry detergent "washing out a perm" came from. Or maybe it was the other way around...
Anyway...I saw Dr. Davis sometime in the 90s. Her natural hair texture is more of a type 3.Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!
