First Lauren Hill gets a relaxer...Now Jill Scott?
Necole*****ie.com did a story on Jill Scott's hair. Since I'm on my phone I can't post any pics so sorry, you'll have to go to the site and see, just scroll down a little.
Mediatakeout.cnm posted pics of Lauren Hill's relaxed hair today too.
Some of you may think its not a big deal and may say I shouldn't be stressing it but I'am. I wish many more black women would leave those nasty relaxers alone.

Wow, and they were my hair idols even before I considered going natural.
Shame.

Yeah, why stress? Their decisions don't have any affect on you. Those that want to be natural are and those that don't aren't.

These are entertainers...they change hair like they change underwear. Jill Scott wears a million and one hairstyles of all kinds of textures....who cares if she relaxes, LOL. It's hair and her money!

Not everyone goes nappy for the same reasons for some, it's not that deep or if it was, maybe her stance on natural has changed. Maybe she wants a mainstream career and feels this is how to do or maybe she's the 50 mllionth person to bit off Rihanna.
I understand why you're disappointed, it was the same for me when Lauryn let go of her locs but I got over it and so will you.

honestly, i'd wonder what would compel them to do that given the increased interest in natural hair.
even though they aren't as musically relevant as they were in their primes, their actions are still symbolic for their fans and the masses (and i doubt they're oblivious to it). for those who they've influenced its essentially writing off natural hair as merely a phase and relaxed hair as a return to normalcy. that's how i'm perceiving it, although that may not be their intended effect. not sure if i can give them the benefit of the doubt.
it really makes you question the supposed 'authenticity' of even conscious artists. at the end of the day, everyone is just posturing to attract a certain demographic. mhmm. its their lives though... doesn't really affect me either way.

Hmmm. IA it's their hair, their choice. On another note I read in a paper a few weeks ago that Jennifer Hudson was considering shaving her hair off. Don't know if its to go natural or just to start over. *shrugs shoulders* To each their own.
