I stopped using henna, I didn't like the way it loosened my hair. Also it had the opposite effect on my hair. It made my hair undefined, poofy, frizzy, and dry.

^^ *Eyebrow raise* It loosened you hair and made it undefined?
I've been using it on and off for 3 years with no texture change. What has changed is the amount of breakage I get! Next to none now!the artist formerly known as Electra

Just to clarify, I didn't write that statement dsg did. She was responding to a question that I asked in the thread you linked to. I've never used henna.
Here is the original directly from the above linked thread:

I've used henna twice. It has not altered my curl pattern. I use it for it's color-depositing, conditioning and thickening effects.

I really like henna. It hasn't changed my napps' nappiness.

Yup, I did a henna treatment 2 weeks ago.
Edited to add: I saw a person with big thick locs do it and she put her head in the bathtub and swished to remove any residue. It rinsed in the shower, then dunked in the sink. It worked like a charm.Hair Album http://public.fotki.com/ChocoLattepuffmommi/

I'm curious, for the people saying henna DID mess with their texture. Was there a particular type of henna that you all used? I'm asking simply because I'd like to try henna because, my hair already goes reddish if I'm in the sun a lot. I've got gray coming in and I've been thinking of a way to hide that a bit but do it with a natural product. I want to avoid getting texture changes.
I ask because I don't want to use that sort of henna or do people think it's an issue of frequency?"The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it." - Chinese Proverb

I am a faithful user of Ancient Sunrise Henna from Mehandi.com. I only use it for color purposes and apply it about every three months. After the treatment I do notice that my very thick/coarse hair hangs looser when styled immediately after into double strand twist. Any wash and style after my hair texture/curl pattern is back to normal.
