Exclamation Help, I think I latched my hair wrong!!

I saw a video about latching and this lady and the lady said that you have to twist the root(without product) and then latch at the base. Well I just put the latch tool through the new growth, I didn't twist it first like she did in the video. Will my locs be messed up?Heres the vid below:

you don't have to do that to latch...
wouldn't twisting and latching at the same time put too much stress on the roots though?

Oh wow, lol because when I saw that vid I started freaking out because I don't do mine like that. I just stick the latch hook in the new growth and latch until it gets to the base.

That looks so painful but I'm pretty sure it not. Anyway I not an expert but from the video I seen on this topic not many of them twist before interlocking. I agree with Nicob that twisting and interlocking could be very stressful to the hair and root but like I said I'm no expert.

Also, your dreads WILL NOT break off if you don't latch every three months. Where did that foolishness come from???

I'm Jamaican, and that is not how our loctitians do things here. Latching dried locks?! Using WAX in the hair??? Heck no, honey! Tip757, don't worry about not twisting the root prior to latching. Going that route is more certain to mess up your locks. I latch mine roughly every other month, while wet, with no twisting and no product. My locks are just 1 1/2 years old, and I don't want to put them under any undue stress.
