I thank I belongs in 'heah'! I've gotten to the place where I pretty much KEEP my hair in protective styles. I NEVER thought I would be that way 'cause I love my fro... but here lately, I just don't feel like dealing with it. I pretty sure I will be protected alllll winter with only the occasional fro sighting...

I'm in. Used to mess with my hair a lot when I first bc'd. Now that the warm weather is gone, I think I've learned enough about my hair to keep it up. I wear tst, cornrows, or box braids for a week to 10 days. Take them out for 1 day, wash, dc and back in ps again. Will be doing this indefinitely.

My box braids are in for the winter lol! I'll only take them down to color or change up my parts.

Yeah, I've been doing it this long without issue...

I can't believe the number of split end I have - I'll be trimming about an inch of my own hair and when I have vacation in December, I'll put in box braids.
I'm having a lot of fun with these twists and the volume I get with them, not to mention the 3 hours it takes to redo all of them (my shortest time yet).

I feel the same way.I love the look but it's so not worth it at the end of the day when I have to spend 1 hr detangling.PS all day every day!!

I'm new to this natural thing and still in transition so protective styles are my friend!!! i've been doin sew ins, micros, and cornrows. I keep trying to do a twist out but it not working very well for me yet. I just double strand twisted them and hopefully by the morning they will be nice and pretty when I unravel them!!!

Who washes their hair while in box braids and how? When I wash my hair while in braids it always feels and looks so dry afterwards. Because of this I take my hair down after a week to 10 days and start over. I would like to keep them in longer.

When I wash my hair in braids, I focus on my scalp. Do you use conditioner? I leave in the conditioner for a long time (hour or more) and make sure to rinse verrryyyy thoroughly. Some other people say that they dilute their shampoo and conditioner and focus their application on the ends. If your hair is dry, maybe it's due to build up. Do you use a leave-in after washing?

Hadasah, I use my reg shampoo and condish, GDLI, and AOHC. I've also tried w/o using the shampoo, and I've tried just rinsing, and still it's dry and gets frizzy. While in braids or twists I spritz with an aloe vera mix in warm weather, and TW's PMB in cooler weather. I put a shea butter mixture on my ends sometimes.
