Default Alternative Decor For The Holidays

You know what, for a very long time I was very anti-holiday not only cuz of it's commercialism, but it's cheesiness (if that's a word).

Now with me living on my own for almost 3 years now, i finally realized that I can do the holidays MY way. Last year I got started pretty late by simply making my Afrikan Chrimmus Wreaf.

It's still up by the way, year round baby! Now, I'm gunna get me a pank chrimmus tree and put some funky handmade ornaments on it.

So do any of you ladies have "alternative" (basically, not the traditional looking) way of decorating for the holidays? Please share. Photos would be nice too!!

No alternatives... I avoid Christmas decorating. But when I saw your tree, I immediately thought about hanging left over colorful pasties from your birthday... and/or creating ornaments that reflects your character on the tree.

KB, the pink tree is a cute idea. Last year I also made an Afrikan Chrimmus Wreaf after seeing you post about it on this board. Unfortunately, my sneaky friend made off with it so no picture.

She was inspired by my wreath to do a white tree with all white and black decorations. On the plain black ones like these she spray painted white Andrinka symbols. And tied bows on the branches using ribbon like this

Have you decided what you're going to do with your pank tree?

well the tree is already up. i plug it in every night since it comes with lights. now i'm thinking about what do i want to decorate it with. of all things i dont want it to be too overwhelming. still brainstorming and visiting craft blogs for ideas.

oneprettything.com is a good place to get decor tutorials, ideas & more.

I will have to check that site out. Don't forget to post pics once you finish decorating.
