    Default 12 Step Henna! : Part 4

    Let's keep this going!

The Tale of My First Henna Experience

I did an overnight henna gloss on freshly shampooed and detangled hair. I used a mix of Dulhan henna, AO HSR Conditioner, aloe vera gel, peppermint tea, honey, EVOO, EVCO and JBCO. I mixed everything in at once. I played it by ear and mixed in things until I got the desired thickness--I didn't measure anything. I let the mix sit for a couple of hours and I applied it after I saw the dye release. After that, I co-washed, moisturized, sealed and styled my hair into a puff. My hair has a nice burgundy tint and feels soooo soft!

I bought the Dulhan henna from a local Indian grocer at $2.99 for 100g. The henna application process wasn't messy at all. My mix was super thick so I think that helped. I didn't have gloves so I used plastic bags with hair ties around my wrists (Resourceful, right? ). I slept in the henna with a self-heating Evolve Cholesterol Conditioning Cap. The cap kept my hair warm and moist during the process. I rinsed the henna gloss out in my college dorm shower with no difficulties.

I'm quite pleased with my henna experience. I'll do henna glosses until I finish my AO HSR Conditioner stash and then I'll try a full strength treatment.

I would love to do a henna tonight but I might not be up to it after working tonight. We will see.

I want to use my nupur henna with fenugreek , maka , amla , and coconut cream.

I love henna and I try to do it every month, However after my surgery I couldn't do it. But I'm back to it now. I like to mix it with chamomile and lavender tea. I never add any oils.

I love henna too. Its the only thing that makes my hair super super soft... that and shea butter. Oils seem to just dry me out and never "stick" to my hair. Henna is apart of my monthly maintenance. I've never done the tea with it.. just distilled water. Will try it next time. Thanks.

@cerendipity: Your mix looks wonderful. I'm glad you're doing a henna mix series on your blog--I'll def check it out.

I can't wait to do another henna gloss this weekend!
