I'm finally about to get my henna on...right after I send my LS some info on it, LOL.
ETA: What a success! Goodbye unruly gray hair! Mehandi is much more expensive than other brands but the results are guaranteed every single time. I added coconut milk right before I put the henna in and I think it's keeping my hair pretty soft since it can get super dry afterward. Now I need to find something to do with the rest of it, lol.
I'll probably order some indigo for my mom and use the little bit of leftover henna for that.Last edited by bhop13; 05-06-2011 at 03:03 AM.

Question from a new henna user:
Is there such a thing as hennaing your hair too much? I tried henna for the first time about two weeks ago and I already want to do it again as it made my hair super soft for the few days. If I were to do it again sooner would the red on my dark hair be a little more vibrant or am I just jumpin' the gun?Yeah. I said it.

I just ordered some more body art quality henna but this kind is said to have a really high dye content.
Questions:
If I leave the henna on overnight will my hair be more red? The smell makes me sick but if I am asleep then it won't bother me however I don't want my hair super duper red unless it is very very dark.
Is it okay to use deep conditioner along with some avc or lemon juice? I used lemon juice this time but next time I'd prefer to use avc (I already use it pretty frequently) to mix it before I go to school and work to a thick consistency then when I get home I'd mix it with deep conditioner until it is thick enough to not drip off my hair. If I leave that on overnight my hair will be super deep conditioned the way I like it.
Does washing your hair get rid of the henna over a short period of time? I like to wash my hair once every two to four days but since I usually don't see my own head out in the sunlight I can't tell if it's still very red or not.Yeah. I said it.

I have a question. I been doiing henna research. I know you can mix indigo or put it on next after you completed your henna to get browns or blacks. However, i was wondering if I used straight indigo would my hair receive just a blue tint or it will still go closer to black?

@Queenie, leaving the Henna in your hair longer does allow for greater color deposit. However, if you're hair is pretty dark now you may not see much change regardless of how long you leave it on.
I don't think you can henna too much UNLESS you have really fine strands. If you do, the more henna you use, the straighter/more "weighed down" your hair will become. Otherwise you should be good...although there is that old saying "everything in moderation".
You can mix whatever you want into your mix, DCs included. Realize though, that the more non-henna you add the more diluted the actual henna is. Meaning less color, shine, strengthening (As I understand it). A lot of people mix regular condish into their henna to lessen the dryness after you rinse. I've found that a good DC will handle all of that anyway though. So I don't mix mine with anything but AVC.the artist formerly known as Electra
