Re: Parenting random thoughts
Well, I guess it wasn't meant to be right now. I'm going through a miscarriage. The first ultrasound they did, I was around 8 weeks but only measuring at 5 and they saw an empty gestational sac. The next week, we did another ultrasound and there were then 2 sacs (twins) still measuring at 5 weeks and both empty. When they checked my Hcg levels, they had dropped and the dr let me know I would soon miscarry. She was right. My progesterone still wasn't doubling either, even while on pills.
I'm somewhat relieved cuz lord knows I wasn't ready for twins, but I had got really excited about the idea of possibly having a baby girl. I had the names picked out for a boy and a girl. My son was devastated too since he will no longer get to be a big brother. Its still possible to try again in the future though but I'm not gonna rush into it.
I've never heard anyone talk about what all a miscarriage entails. I didn't know it was a long, drawn out, and painful process. I didn't know that you would need pain medication. I thought it was like a one or two day thing and that was it. I wish the dr would have explained everything. I didn't find out until I had talked to a friend of mine that recently went through it too. I'm just ready for it to all be over.

Re: Parenting random thoughts
Thank you everyone. I think the process is almost over. They will still have to draw blood to make sure the HCG and progesterone levels are back down to 0 and I think they may do one more ultrasound to make sure everything has come out. After that, hopefully I can just move on.
I had a moment last night and I'm thinking cuz it is nearing the end, like its finalized. No more possibilities of it working out. I'm actually really relieved, however I still wonder who they would have been, were they boys or girls or one of each? It would have been nice to see what new creations could come from my husband and I. Those are the things that I get sad about. Also, not having the mother/daughter relationship I was looking forward to if they would have been girls. However, had the babies actually been developed, I'm sure this would be much harder to deal with so its probably best I don't know any details about who they would have been.Last edited by ~GAN~; 01-02-2015 at 05:27 PM.

Re: Parenting random thoughts
Thank you everyone! I'm in a much better place mentally now! The grieving process took longer than I expected it would, but I can at least talk about it without crying now!

Re: Parenting random thoughts
My son keeps telling me he wants hair like mine, yet, when I do his hair he cries... I haven't cut it in over a year and I think 5 years old is too young for locs anyway. He loves to do that thing where he sits next to me and we take pictures of him with my hair over his head as if it is his hair.
Natural since 1999 - locced since 2007
