Oh wow! The children stories relating gray hair to old and dying really hurt my heart! We have to teach the young ones that this is not always about getting old!

My daughter (she's 21) says she doesn't want me to color but my boys (24 & 26) always stare at it and make a comment about it which makes me wonder how did the boys end up with a different view about the hair color thing and it was not something we discussed?

When I think about it almost all my elders in my family colored their hair until they were 60+ and they are the ones who have complaints regarding my hair without the grays so I will hear a lot more when the grays really start shining through!

Dayna I have no idea how you find all these pictures but thank you!

Hold your head up, Friend. Sometimes you have to go against the grain. I began coloring my hair a year ago after one of my patients referred to me as "that old lady." Don't follow in my footsteps, unless you want to.

Thanks ladies...society can certainly be very anti-silver. But in the end we have to do what works best for us.

From the Loc Inspirations thread! It should be here too because it serves a dual purpose.

    Thanks everyone.

Today as I sat in the waiting room of the doctor's office a mother and daughter came out smiled and said hello then stopped. As they looked toward this statue in the waiting area I could hear whispers. Finally they came over and asked me about my hair.

The mother who had a texlax said she was 70 (didn't look it of course) and said she wanted more silver. The daughter who had a weave asked about my hair regimen and suggested she could do it for her mother. I told them about NP and the daughter said her hair was really broken off and damaged but she wanted to ditch the weave. They were very complementary of the silver.

I mention all this because sometimes what you struggle to celebrate others would love to embrace.
