    Default Combining Locs

    Hey All!

I am gonna be combining my locs in the next four weeks. I just want to know what is the best method. My locks are still babies. I plan on twisting, but not sure which way to combine. Take the lock right next to it or the only right above it.

    Any suggestions??

I'm not sure if it matters...

Whether above, beside or below, they would need to be 'next' to each other in order to combine, right?

    Maybe I'm over-thinking it. Hmmm...

    ~best wishes~

Before going organic, I'd just intertwine two locs into each other's roots then twist the seperate parts to the ends.

Now I just wash my hair and let them combine naturally.

The best method is what works for you.
    latch...the roots
    twist,
    combination latch/twist
    sew
    .....

Personally, I latched my roots together and left the Y portion(looks just like the letter Y.I like the fullness. Others latch or sew all the way to the ends. And, yes, needle and thread, sew(I know someone is going to ask that). lol.

Some cut the branch off...it's up to you...

I had this same issue when I combined mine a year ago. Since I wanted even rows in the front of my head (which I didn't have before) I combined my locs top to bottom and the back I just combined side to side. So really I combined my locs in either direction based on the size, where I had weaker locs or how I wanted to style them.

I would recommend two strand twisting all your locs together first to get an overall idea of how they would look before making that move to combine them. This is what I did and it helped me to see that I didn't need to combine every single loc in some parts of my head since those locs were already bigger. Make sense? Hope this helps.

It's really up to you. I have combined locs. And I've done it both ways. I find that two locs are a bit too thin and they're next to each other---ie one on top of one on the side..I just pair them up and move on. Actually there is no real order if you see my hair. You know how people have straight lines when they lift up their locs...I lost mine along the way.

Thanks to you all for your responses. I was going to wait until I put the henna in my hair (I have about 1.5ins of gray hair that's driving me nuts) but I think tomorrow I am going to combine those that feel really small. I did combine some on the side by doing it top to bottom and two strand twisting them. Since my locs are still babies, you can't even see that they were two separate locs.

The locs in the back are a little larger in the back so I don't think I am going to have to combine too many in the back.

Thanks again ladies. When I am done tomorrow I will post before and after pics.

You can also braid three together. It makes for a tighter root.
