Yarn Braids (type of yarn)
I've searched through the forum for posts on yarn braids, but I can't seem to find an answer for this particular question. I am currently in the process of putting yarn braids in my hair and I cannot find the yarn that I usually use (Red Heart 100% acrylic). I found some black yarn at my local Wal-mart and it's 100% polyester. I'm wondering if I can use this without it locing my hair.. If anyone has any info i'd appreciate it.

Never tried polyester. I only use Lionsbrand Homespun yarn (acrylic). Going into the summer, you don't find yarn braids to be too hot??

Synthetic yarn does not lock in hair. I think it's only natural fibers
I would like to say thank you to whomever it was out there that PANKED me! You're a true blessing

When I wore yarn braids, I would leave them in about six weeks. I never had any issues with locking or moisture.

Polyester won't loc in your hair (it shouldn't.) because it doesn't felt.
The only fibers that will loc in your hair are animal fibers, so you should be fine.

It is my understanding that Wool will lock into your hair. I've seen but not tried the Alpaca blends.
Of course seeing as to how I have Locs, I'd have a preference for fibers that are known to loc into the hair. Right now I have one that's been there for a while. My Blog: http://locability.blogspot.com

Re: Yarn Braids (type of yarn)
I keep thinking about trying to put in braids on top of my dreads since I see people do it on youtube...
