Default I'm trying really hard not to get frustrated..

I'm trying to put some box braids into my TWA, which is now 2-2.5 inches long, stretched. Most videos/research I've found have suggested the hair be at least 3 inches long.

So anyway, I finally got it down how to latch/anchor the synthetic hair onto my hair and I know how to do a simple braid. But when it comes to putting those two together, it just doesn't work.

I'm really trying to learn so that I can be more independent with my hair instead of having to pay someone else to do it. I guess I'm just going to have to practice some more.

I just needed to vent. In the meantime, I'm just going to do some two strand twists (of course w/o the synthetic hair).

The same thing happened to me. I think I was at the same length as you were. It took a few attempts to get the synthetic hair to blend with my short natural hair. Good luck!! It is possible.

yeah I think it'll blend ok. the color I chose is pretty close to my color. but I just can get the braid to do "right" and I'm going to stop now before I make myself too frustrated. Maybe I'll revisit in a month or something. IDK.

actually if I don't go out tomorrow, I'm going to try doing it with cornrows. See how that turns out. If not, THEN I will 2ST.

if you can't get the synthetic hair to do right, maybe you could try yarn braids. i saw them for the first time in real life the other day. the girl's hair is about as long as yours and it blended really well. plus she was able to braid her braids, dip them in hot water and undo it to make them all wavy--looks exactly like locs and is very pretty.
fotki [hair-updated for the last time 10/1/10] please see NP albums from now on. thanks!

are you making your sections small enough?
2 inches is plenty to do braid extensions

I'm sure it is. However, I'm a beginner at braiding w/ extensions.

Default Dont rule out box braids just yet

When my hair was 2-2.5 inches I did put box braids in. I did not have a problem. Find someone who would be willing to look at your hair first. I think I took a picture of my hair with my phone and sent it to her. Dont rule out box braids just yet or consider going down a size on the braids
