1 year Twists/Braids Challenge
I'm going to really challenge myself. I just started wearing twists w/ my natural hair June 1, 2011. I plan on wearing them until June 1, 2012 to retain as much length as possible I'm aiming for around 6 inches of growth by next year. I hope I stick with it.
Anyone want to join?

I'm in heeeere! My challenge is personally starting now, but for the record I'm starting the first week of January. I can't wear twists so I'll be braiding for this year. I get a trim every 6 months, i'm up for a trim now so by June i'll be trimming again. As for my braid regimen I'll start with clarified and henna treated hair (I LOVE HENNA!!!). Leave my braids in for 1 month/4weeks, moisturizing and oiling atleast once a week...and that's all folks, later in the challenge however I would like to start delving more into ayurveda and incorporate it into my challenge regimen.

I'm with you! I'm starting either at the end of this week or the first week of January. My regimen will just consist of washing/conditioning perhaps every two weeks, oiling my scalp and an occasional protein treatment. I want to keep a very low maintenance regimen and see how my hair does. If I like what I see, I'll try to continue until December! It's just the perfect time to start, lol.

Congratulations! What's your regimen been like? Specifically, how often do you wash/DC/retwist?
Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

Thanks you!
I wash and retwist my hair every 3 weeks. During those 3 weeks I spray my hair with a mix of water, glycerin, and olive oil or my T-Tree Braid Spray. Both keeps my hair very soft

LOL I guess I've been in this challenge for years and didn't even know it!! I love twists and generally wear them most of the time. The longest I can manage wearing twists is 3 weeks, due to eczema/psoriasis issues. I have to shampoo at least every 2 weeks. I generally rinse w/just water the week before shampooing.
