I like to wear my hair up alot so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. It's been really hottttt lately and I work in a place that the ac is not that great.

^ I had slippage now and again for around a 1 year and a bit, one strand slipped out totally every time I shampooed for two years before it locked up.

I'm at the 20 month mark and some of my locs still slip in parts. Mainly where my hair has a softer texture.

It's best to dye your hair before you have your locs installed. If you wait until after then it could hinder the locking process if they're in the baby stage. My advice is to just color them before hand or wait until they are mature to dye them because once they're mature then you won't have as many problems.

I colored my hair about 2-3 weeks before I had my old set of SLs installed, and then I deep conditioned them every week up until the day of my installation. I know this sounds excessive, but it worked and I didn't have any problems with dryness or breakage.

I colored my locs again 6 months after they were installed and that's when I encountered problems i.e. bunching and unraveling in most places.

Thank you all for the help! I colored it this morning and am loving my new burgundy hue. Now I'm trying to be patient and wait for my installation date, but luckily there's a sisterlock convention here in Detroit on 8/13 (which is my birthday so I took that as a sign from above lol) so I'll have plenty of time to stalk other people's beautiful hair!
