In general, professional black hair care is heavy on style and very minimalistic, if not destructive, on care/cut. Mainstream hair care is the opposite of that and ideal for someone who is solely focused on getting a proper cut. For the purpose put forth, I don't see the point in trifling with a "black hair care" professional if they haven't exhibited strong cutting skills or gotten themselves a chair in a salon with a heavy focus on cutting.

I'm not even mad. Given the horror stories I've heard on this board and experienced myself with black stylist I don't blame her. She's doing what works for her.

I've had similar experiences BUT I know it's stylist by stylist thing.

Again I'm not upset about her doing what she's found works for her.

Based on the title, I would not read the article. The title expresses a preference but I don't need to know the reason for the preference.

If someone told me this in person, my response would be okay. End of discussion.

    This:

I’ve done the leg work with products and different salons but most of the products for Black woman want to take your hair from its natural state and make it curly. But what do you do when you already have the desired look the products are trying to sell you?? You find someone who knows how to work with what you’ve already got.
Annoyed me. I don't like the assumption that Black women with natural hair want products that will magically give them curly hair (even though it's probably true lol)

But whatevs. I don't care who trims her curly hair. I'm not a black stylist losing business.
