Am I the only one not wearing updos?
Today I was out shopping (yay shopping) and this lady approached me and said, "Everytime I see you, your hair looks so lovely. But I wish you would style your hair in more updos?" I kindly told her that I prefer to wear my hair down and walked away...she creeped me out. I've never seen this woman a day in my life, but apparently she sees me quite a bit.
Moving right along...am I the only one that prefers to wear her locs down? I do a pony, bun, flat twist and other little cutesy styles every now and then - but I just feel that doing updos too much can cause damage later on. The pulling and tension on our locs is not a good thing. The one and only time I wore an updo, my head was hurting so bad, but the style was cute So what do you think ladies/gentlemen?BC - 03.22.2007

That was a little weird. Why did she think you were taking requests from the peanut gallery?

I wear my hair up or half way up most of the time like Monday-Friday.
I never pull it tight I wear my hair tie or pin it up on one side...easy.
I usually wear my hair down when I first get it done for a day or two...thats about it.
Plus my hair is at an awkward length imo....[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

After I read your post, especially the last line, I started thinking maybe I will start wearing it up more once it gets alot longer. I think right now my hair is at a length where wearing it down is comfortable for me. Also I like how you pointed out that you don't wear it tight. I think that's my biggest concern.. having it pulled too tightly in an updo. Thanks for your response.

^^No problem Sis....
this is an example of a hair tie
Creates a loose hold like this....
and takes about two seconds to do...nice, quick, easy, loose and requires ZERO styling skill...I love it, lol.Last edited by netta1; 07-29-2011 at 06:40 AM.

I was going to order one of them from Tomoka's Twist..I only ordered the twisty thing - which I absolutely love. I also like how you have your hair pinned up with it..too cute. See styles like that I can see myself doing every now and then. I am talking about those styles that require alot of twisting and pulling of the locs..and the majority of the time you need hair pins to hold it all in place.

Funny...because I was just talking to a co-worker about this yesterday. I don't really care for updo's on me...I've never had any...nor would that be the style of choice for me.
I like to mainly wear my hair down...or in a low ponytail tied with my own locs.
..Peace&Love..
