Keratin in regular conditioners is a protein.
"Keratin Treatments" are a chemical straightening service PERIOD. It works differently from a relaxer, but it is a chemical.
There are many threads on this if you do a search.Last edited by Soul Rebel; 09-07-2011 at 03:18 AM.

My apologies for taking so long to get back with an update.
I'm not going to keep going on about the keratin debate. I just know there are different types of it. Some without any sort of chemical and some with it. I have the one without it.
Anyway, I found out why my hair wouldn't curl. I don't know why my stylist didn't tell me, but he didn't cut off all my relaxed hair. I didn't think about it because I thought he did. I got the rest of it chopped off and my hair curls just fine now. Wash and go, 2 strand twists, whichever. Thanks again for all of your guys responses.

Hopefully we can end this with the thread closing soon. Chemical or not IT IS a straightening treatment that requires high heat and lasts for multiple months. I'm a licensed Cosmetologist.
