I need to slightly vent...

I wore a protective style in my head for about a month due to the heat. So, I took it out last week & have been wearing a coil-out. One of my co-workers told me I needed to put my braids back in because I "looked sexy." I told him, "Sorry, that was just for the summer. I'm not too wild about weaves." Then I gave the "Kanye Shrug".
All arrogance aside, I have nothing to prove. It took me years to get comfortable with the skin & hair I am in. No, I am not going to run to get a blow-out every other week to show that I have a head full of hair (due to my massive amount of shrinkage). & I'm only going to wear protective styles as just that-to protect my hair.
I am the trailblazer, the leader, and the head. I refuse to be a chameleon and look like everyone else. I will wear the crown that God has blessed me with proudly.

Don't be mad but i think u can take it as a compliment. Unless he meant "not liking the hair itself" except u have braids.

@ Blazingflames...well, I got insulted because I work around people with the "if it's not re.laxed, it's not right" & "str.8t hair is better" attitude. Many of my co-workers poke fun or make side comments about people with natural hair.

I dunno. If a guy told me I looked sexy in a certain style, I'd go out and buy some more of it. Flame away!

OP, I am glad that you are comfortable in your own shoes and not living your life to please others. A lot of us will find so much more peace in our lives if we didn't run around trying to appease other folks.

Thanks Ms. GG. I've lived many years trying to please people, and boy was I miserable. I love my natural hair and I feel great. RuPaul said it best, "if you can't love yourself, how in the hell can you love somebody else?!?!" Believe you me, there are plenty of men who do not mind my nappy hair.
