what exactly are "dry" locs
Ok, so I know they are locs that are dry... how dry is "dry"?
i dont do much moisturizing, I use a little black caster oil with coconut every now and then (maybe twice a month?) and when i retwist and dry my hair, I consider it dry.
so is "Dry" locs like locs that are brittle and will break x.x

I don't think you're going to get a definitive answer for your question as from what I've seen here on NP, "dry locs" are subjective. I would agree with your assessment though that dry locs = locs that are brittle and will break, although that would be an extreme.
For me dry locs are when I squeeze my locs and get that scratchy, crispy feeling, when they don't feel nearly as pliable or bendable as they usually do. I oil my hair after every wash/rinse session and I oil my locs well, so that dry feeling, for me, is quite rare.http://www.nappturality.com/forum/pi...972292&thumb=1 http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/...58/184/7ba.gifRevelation 21:4 - Psalm 51 - Psalm 121 - Ephesians(All words typed above are my experience and/or opinion, please feel free to agree or disagree....just please, do so without malice.)Loc'ed: 19/NOV/08 - Love ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~NP Convert since 06/08

ITA with KoilyLocGirl - locs that feel crispy and scratchy and stiff are what I consider dry.
Some mornings I load my spray bottle with hot water, long squirts of Nubian Kinks oil, jojoba, vitamin E and a smidge of JBCO. I spray the bejinkies out of my hair, tuck it under my monster shower cap and go shower and run hot water over the cap. After my shower my locs are soft, non-crispy and delicious smelling

I agree with the decsription of my locks feeling "crispy" and less pliable. My roots also bunch up and my locs don't "fall" the same way they do when their is moisture in my hair. They act like they're wishing they could point to the sky but can't because of the weight and length I guess...

Dry is definitely subjective. I don't have a moisturizing routine. For the past 6 months, I've just been washing my hair with a clarifying shampoo and retwisting with water, that's it. However, my hair's not doing anything out of the ordinary so I don't worry about it. Just think about what you expect your hair to feel like and go from there. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it, ya know?

My locs are dry when they will not "relax" if you will. They stand and they feel unmoisturized. They sometimes feel itchy.

Dry locks feel scratchy, stiff, like straw usually.
