Honey, oil, and what else?
Ok, so a friend of mine and I were talking the other day, and she mentioned something about putting honey in my hair to make it soft. This had been on my mind for a while so, yesterday, after researching the internet, I decided to doctor my deep conditioner. I started off filling the bottom of my bowl with some honey and microwaved it to make it runny. I added some coconut oil and a mixture of doo gro and ion conditioners. I used a mixture because I didn't want to use up all of my doo gro. I'm not sure if I used too much honey because when I put it in my hair it felt really hard, but after about 20 mins under a shower cap it softened up. It felt amazing when I rinsed it out and my new growth (about 3 inches) was really thick and soft. Does anyone know any other ingredients or mixtures that will help my transitioning hair? Also, would olive oil be better to use for somthing like this than coconut oil? And does lemon juice have any place in hair care?

I add a tablespoon of raw honey to my moisture DC's. It really does leave your hair extra soft. I didn't notice the difference until I ran out of honey

OP you don't need to run out and get a bunch of stuff. Just add one or two things to your DC and start from there. If you add 50 oils and other ingredients you'll never know what your hair likes. Start with one or two new things and modify as needed

I love mixing Olive oil and honey in my conditioner (the olive oil gives me great slip and the honey moisturizes my hair). I have also experimented with shea butter, vatika oil (a doctored-up coconut oil), veggie glycerin, and aloe vera gel. If I want to do a little protein boost, I throw in a couple tablespoons of greek yogurt.
Lemon juice: I have only heard of it being used to lighten hair color (and even then some women complain about dryness afterward). I don't think it would be beneficial if you are trying to moisturize, strengthen, or add a little slip to your hair.
