Thinning is a female dog. I'm bald as an American Eagle in some places. As much as I despise artificial hair, that's going to be my next move.

I've noticed thinning too, of which I am not happy with. I feel sad I never appreciated my hair when I was young and full of healthy hormones.
Both my grams and my mother suffered serious FPB. I pray to god every night that wicked gene skips me!
But in case it doesn't, I'm gonna rock it like Yul Brynner. Bet that!

My hair was thinning badly as a loose natural as well as permie. I never intended to lock; but, the manipulation of my crown was KILLIN my scalp and my hair was so damaged and broken. Now, with locks, my crown has grown to below my shoulders and I've created quite a few locks from the hair that has regenerated due to low manipulation of my hair/scalp from locking. My edges returned as well. At 35, both were on there way out. I think I saved my scalp just in time. For this reason alone I am a lock advocate...our hair loves to be left alone to do it's thing. It wasn't overnight. I can document from 1-3 years post relaxer tx how my hair came back in spurts. It was as though it received the signal that the trauma game of chemicals and detangling were over.
My changes: lots of wiry silver hairs all throughout my locks and head. I love them though. I long to have a head full of silver locks. It seems majestic and I embrace my years. Ive worked so hard to earn the wisdom badges of pride, I want all to know with a beautiful halo. Bring it!Last edited by KnottyAuthor; 02-18-2012 at 02:22 PM.

My hair is not as thick as it used to be but it's still in good shape. The texture is different now as well as it seems finer. Some of the silver strands have no curl.

At 46 and a vegan/vegetarian for 4 yrs, I am the opposite of dry hair. My hair use to be always very dry but within the past year, it has become softer and the texture seem to have changed as it softened...I see these changes from eating healthier and wiser . I thought it would always be dry although I always drank lots of water before living a plant based lifestyle. I also have more spiraling white hairs but I love my white hairs and see it as another level in my journey. I am loving getting older with grace and I see it as aging like a fine wine

My hair isn't thinning but is definitely drier. It is not as forgiving as it used to be. My texture is softer and it seems to be easier to manage and it is growing longer because my length isnt' being destroyed - or not styling the heck out of it anymore and letting it be - or it's just me knowing what to do now Diet is so important over 40 and we need to eat more fresh, real food, slow food and less fast food. Actually that's true of all ages!

My hair is thicker, yet drier. I am changing diet to stop eating meat and adding more water. I hope that will help.

I locked before 40 so not sure what my hair would be like as a loose natural. I do need more water, veggies and fruit in my diet to combat the dryness.

Okay, so I'm 56 today. Finally got my hairline back, the original bald spot filled in, but I've got a new one! Hair is much thinner than when I was young, and it seems to have loosened up a lot. I can detangle in the shower with ease. I don't think my hair is drier, but EVERYTHING ELSE IS!

I haven't noticed any changes in my hair during my 40s.
