    Default Thining hair in top

I know with age we get thinning of hair. My hair is pretty thick andx dense, except fort the middle top, which is thinner than the rest of my hair. when I take pics I notice it looks like I am balding in the middle. Any helpful products or advice welcome.

netta: I'm dealing with the thinning as well. I've read about the topical agents that stimulate hair growth....but I really don't think they work.

So...when I style in twists, I try and make sure they will fall in a direction that camoflages the thinner areas. I never apply too much tension when styling. When I wear updo's, I'll pin so as to cover the sparcer areas. When I wear twistouts [as in my avi] I'll lightly mist that area, so that the puffiness covers that area. Sorry, but that's all I got!

ETA: Long term growth...the jury is still out.

Hey there, netta. I've been looking through some old hair growth threads (I have a fine area on my right side that I've decided to give another go at). Check out this one regarding the "Hay Study." Seems interesting.

OHR, you were in this thread. You mentioned Moe's Growth Oil working for you.

^Her oil did work for me...it kept my scalp nice and soft...when the new growth came in, it did help get things moving along. Once I got an inch or so, I stopped using it.

Prayer. You can't fight age (but we sure as heck can try!). With that being said, there are loads of ayurvedic herbs and oils that claim to prevent hair loss. Castor oil is reputed to do the same as well as thicken hair.

Female patterned baldness is something I have a vested interest in since my mother and her mother suffered from it badly all of their lives. So I have herbs and oils up the wazoo.

My hair is thin but it is workable. I'll let you know if any dormant hair follicles revive themselves.

Thanks swo much. For some reason when it dries naturally it is thicker, than with the blow dryer. I am looking for styles that are best.

Make sure there are no fixable medical problems like iron deficiency or a slow thyroid. I tried a product called "Hairobics," which caused some of my hair to come back.

Please expound on your experience with Hairobics. I've been eyeballing that company for years!

here is a pic of my thin spots. I know this comes from bleaching my hair last summer and fake loc exstentions. I will take better care of it now.

I have had success using a product called Minoval (www.minoval.com). It is basically liquid minoxidil, the same active ingredient in Rogaine. Most beauty supply stores sell it for around $7 a bottle.
