In this age and time I believe we are all mixed with something. My ex father-in-law who is half cuban also found out from his trace that he is also largely Asian...what a surprise. Congratulations on finding out, I think it's important to know.

Now the next question...what are you going to do with the information that you have?

Don't worry, I don't feel bad about my ancestry. "Mutt" is not a pejorative term to me. :-)

As for what I will do with the information...the percentage breakdown is not a surprise - it coincides well with what I know of my family history. But I have also requested a more detailed breakdown of the African component. It will take a few more weeks, but it will map my DNA to specific African ethnic groups. THAT I will use to research more about those ethnicities and countries.

I can't wait to get that!

No I went with Ancestry By DNA...a geneticist recommended them to me because she considered their process more likely to result in accurate results (I forget the technical explanation, but I have it written down).

Which of the tests does that? I went to their website and it only offers the general test and the maternal and paternal tests.

Is not the DNA test about 300-400.00? I'd like to get one some day, but I heard they need to take a swab (sp) from the mouth of your elder relative {grand or great-grandparent}. In my case my mother's mom, and my father would have to get this test. For my mother's side, that would cover the DNA of 7 children and 12 grandchildren, and I think 4 "great-grandchildren"....
