Yeah, it's interesting how different we all are. Many people hail the benefits of using all natural soap, yet when I try, I end up with issues. The same thing goes for my hair products. I went "all natural" and I ended up with LOTS of problems. So, now I have defaulted to all of the cheap, over the counter things that worked so well in the past. The funny thing is, I have to use them or have my health adversely affected, LOL!

I have gone through phases of water only but I can't do it exclusively because my scalp it too oily. But too much co-washing is actually worse for me. The condish combines with my scalp oil and turns to gunk. I low-poo (maybe one every couple of weeks) and co-wash maybe once a week and the rest of the time I just rinse.

I couldn't do it. I don't wash my hair often, so I need to use shampoo.

mini update.. The aloe vera *natural shampoo (my mix)is really working well for me. On Sunday I worked the mix into wet hair and let it set while I did other stuff for about 30 min and washed it out. Hair and scalp felt fresh and clean. I put in twists and let dry.

I had planned to leave it alone for a few days and I've only had to retwist a few. I haven't moisturized with water or anything since Sunday. The only moisture it's seen is what gets splashed in the shower.

Right now it's bone dry, not oily to the touch and very soft. If I message my scalp, then I can feel a little oil My hope is to get to a once a week wash and be done with it. Anyway, I like my aloe mix and will continue to use it at least every other wash for now. I think it effectively cleaned without totaly stripping my hair.

Since water only washing, I haven't had any brittle hair days in months, this may be another good side effect... time will tell... results are most likely individual and could vary...

Thank you water washers and all posters for sharing your experiences, information and thoughts.

    Blessings

I shampoo every two weeks and use just plain water in between. I find it refreshing and part of my hair care routine.

Overtime I cannot see how water only washing would be effective at cleaning the hair and scalp. I use water only in between shampoos but If I go more than two weeks without shampooing my scalp/hair it would be a dirty itchy mess. water only would not work for me all.

Have you guys ever heard of using cocoa powder as dry shampoo?
That would help with the smell!
