This should prob go in another thread but I'm lazy. I was told by one if the ladies at a MAC store that I had peachy undertones. I don't wear foundation and have little experience with it but I'd like to at least try a tinted moisturizer. If one doesn't have yellow or red undertones but has peach what should they go for in terms of foundations/tinted moisturizers since most cater to red or yellow undertones? I get turned off from trying foundations b/c they're always off and I get discouraged and don't bother. :/

That's interesting. I'd love to hear what an expert has to say. Mainly because when I hear "peach" undertones, I think "yellow" or "golden".

Don't give up on your search for a good foundation. Sometimes it's a bit like looking for hair products. In my experience, finding the right foundation shade can be all about trial and error. But it depends on the brand. For instance, I've had more luck in a department store than a drugstore.

Plus, in department stores, I feel as though they're more equipped to help you.

Are you able to find a reliable cosmetics counter in your area? Maybe one of their artists could be of service.

    Speaking of drugstore brands...

Yesterday I found a foundation video by African Export after I went hunting for her drugstore lipstick video. Today I couldn't find the one I originally found. Instead, these were the first ones that appeared:

The last foundation I used from Maybelline was in their Fit Me line. I think I bought 320/325.
I knew this thread was giving me deja vu. A friend of mine reminded me of Fit Me earlier today. This time, I bought shade number 340...Which kind of makes me think that the last time I was in this thread, I made a mistake regarding the color that I'd used.

Thanks Claire. I ended up purchasing the NARS Tinted Moisturizer from Sephora in the shade Cuba. Works perfectly on my skin tone. And I made sure the makeup specialist tested it out on me before purchasing.

Yay. Glad the NARS worked out for you!

EDIT; lipsticks are one thing, foundations are another. Most of us makeup artists types will recommend that you scrimp on color cosmetics and spend on your skin (foundation, concealer, powder). If you can - which I know everyone can't always - but if you can you'll see a big difference in terms of ease of matching color, wear, longevity, etc.

2nd EDIT; I see that I said this once already in this thread. LOL. Sorry, can't help myself...lol

i recently got pantoned colored at sephora. although the brands they recommend are just the brands they sell, it's still worth it since it's free. plus being that it's sephora you can leave out of there with samples out the hooha.

i ended up buying makeup forever pro finish in neutral caramel. i also got a sample of clinque superbalanced in golden (which is the darkest shade they have!), i had previously received a FULL SIZE sample (ie an entire bottle?!?) of benefit's gotta know me nutmeg (which i think is a bit too red for my skin).

I've only used drugstore foundations. For the past 2-3 years I've been using L'Oreal True Match (W8 in the original formula, N7/8 in the Lumi formula). I've always believed that I had warmer/yellow undertones, but the N7/8 (which is supposed to be neutral) looks just a better compared to the W8. I've been eyeing the Maybelline Fit Me, but I definitely want to start trying NARS or MAC for my next foundation.
