Default Tips For Effective Conditioner Washing (Part II)

Hi All, can we keep this going as the last thread was very informative and I'm particularly interested in those with 4c hair who do this. What results do you get? How often do you do this etc. Thanks in advance.

I co-wash twice a month, poo twice a month. If I have extra product buildup and it's time to cowash, I'll add a bit of baking soda to my conditioner of choice.

I love co washing. I have seen less dryness in my hair since I began co-washing almost 2 years ago. I cowash once a week and shampoo maybe every other month, if that. I don't use conditioner or products with mineral oils, sulfates or silicones and I think that helps to prevent build up because that's something I haven't had issue with when co-washing.

Thanks ladies for coming back to me.

I have got my products down to a handful of things such as:

leave-in/moisturiser = wold of curls activator.
twists and plaits etc = shea butter mixed with cocnut oil.
occaionally (like once a week) I will spray a curl activator spray.
I currently use African black soap (NOT dudu osun, but the Ghanain soap) to wash my hair. I do not use conditioner.

    That is it.

With these products listed, would it still be ok to co-wash and what would be the best thing for build up? ACV doesn't work for me.

Tempted to try co-washing for a month to see how I get on......

    Thanks again......

When I first went natural, I had a lot of breakage from neglect. Co-washing curbed the breakage after a long time trying all kinds of deep conditioners to end it.

What are people using to co wash? I'm looking for something conefree that can be bought in large quantities (>700mls). I've been using Tresemme Naturals, but at 700mls, the stuff finishes too quickly. I use it up like water to detangle/deshed. :P

I just discovered tresseme naturals. It is one with aloe vera and something else (can't remember) I love it and I think the bottle is pretty big so it works for me. Before i was using V05. The bottles are small but its super cheap so its not a big deal, but I think the Tresseme works better and has a little more slip for detangling.

I am trying to find a deep conditioner for after I cowash. My hair likes to change its mind from time to time and what I used to used does not work anymore. I think that all also help with more moisture.

When I cow ash I use Tresemme Natural with Aloe Vera and Avocado. Detangle from tips to roots w a wide tooth comb. Then I rinse 90% off out leave 10% in and then seal with some olive oil/rosemary EO. I also use this same combo as a prepoo except i start on damp hair add conditioner detailed, then apply the oil mixture.
