I use a latch hook and just latch two locs together. I don't bother to join it along the length, I don't mind having the two headed dragons. If they cause problems with latching I cut one off otherwise it stays as it is.

When I combined my locs, I just pulled one loc through the new growth of the loc right next to it; then finger latched the new growth. I have a lot of two headed dragons now, I'm cool with that. As time goes on I will snip off the tails.

I combined mine around the 6 month mark so I literally just twist two locs together.
My bf had some really thin locs at the back of his head with lots of loose hair. I pulled the loose hair through the base of the loc then I tightened the loc as usual. Worked really well

twist the roots around each other
twist and sew with a thread that matched your hair
    palm roll the roots together
latch adjacent root bed bases together
place rubber bands at the base of adjacent root-beds
twist all the way to the end of the lock and palm-roll the locks together
twist locks together and sew with a needle and thread to the end of the locks
    twist/latch/sew locks at roots only
latch at the roots, cut off one of the branches.

...excuse me if i repeated some of them....

when my locks were younger, i kept the 2 headed locks. I like the fullness. Now, they're mature, water retention is an issue and I want to reduce drying times, build up etc, so I've snipped them off. I have so much hair now I don't care about fullness anymore.

^KnottyAuthor, what great detail, Thanks. Thanks everyone. You have all given me good ideas. I have tried twisting some together and sewing the two at the end where needed and also finger latching two together. I wanted to see what others were doing. Thanks.
