I wanted to lock my hair ever since i was 13. My mom was completely against it so I had to wait till I was 18 to make my own choice of doing it.
To me, they seemed like "me", a symbol of freedom, uniqueness, balance, and virtue.
After I started locking my hair, my mom was impressed and say she should of let me do it long ago, in which I gave her a "... don't bring that up -.-" look >.>
lol. In essence, I got them because they are me.

I got tired of twisting and detangling. I have to work out and I need workout hair that still looks good. I now have locks that I can wash and go without any fuss. Locks are their own style without all the effort.

I BC'd oct 2011 and since then my hair has been growing at an alarming rate. I know it sounds like a complaint, but having to find new styles to suit my new length every few weeks was becoming exhausting. So june 5th 2012, I started my locs and I doubt that I would look back. I work out 3-5 days a week and even my starter locs give me the freedom of not having to worry about fixing hair before and after workouts, so I could only imagine how great its gonna be once I can wash freely.
Plus as a newly loc'd chic there's about 30 mins I save every morning. A cute, versatile yet hassle-free hair style.....what else could a girl want?

I wear my locs, because I am truly an all natural person. I love the personal connection I have with them and they help me on the journey to be more confident in the person I have become and am evolving into.

This is my second set of locs i was born into the twelve tribes parents were rastas and so were me and my siblings.I was a baby freeformer lol,but as i grew up i wanted hair like everyone else and i didnt want to look different i had alot of negatie comments thrown at me when i was a child like my neighbours saying oh she would be pretty if she cut those things off her head and kids locking me in cupboards telling me i had spiders in my hair:-(.
So i made my mum cut them off. After years of seeing locs as a negative and perming and then going natural 5 yrs ago using exstentions etc... I started to feel like i wasnt being myself i wanted to loc. When i found this site it helped me find the beauty in natural and loced hair and jan 2012 i decided to do it. Ive had negative responses and positive ones even people saying why didnt you tell me you was going to loc (like its their head). Even though im not fully loced people have never touched my hair so much im like Get Your Hands Out Now....lol (the nice version)
I feel like i am finally being myself and i am a queen i cant wait to have a crown full of gorgueous locs but i am going to enjoy the journey. Locing for 5 months has taught me alot so i know the journey is going to be great

I'm locking because I've wanted to for a long time, but didn't for various reasons.
I'm locking because it is part of the new beginning I've had to start.
Finally, my locks look good, look more like "me," AND I only have one head to comb now!Rest in Perfect Peace, My Love-1964-2011
