I'm not interested in any field that makes a lot of money. Fortunately, my husband is. He's an agricultural/environmental engineer. Even with his bachelor's he can start out at about 90,000. Once he's completed his master's degree he'll earn more.

    Me...I don't think I'll ever make close to $50,000, let along $100,000!

Does anyone know of someone who works for herself and makes over $100,000?

I have. Sure as hell didn't this year, tho. LOLOL!!! That's the thing about freelancing is income can fluctuate. This year I had personal setbacks and setbacks outside of my control so I didn't work as much as normal years and I've had an INORDINATE number of clients just not pay their invoices this year. Like INSANE. So there went $100K. Actually life is going in another direction so I think it'll be a lil bit before I see it again.

I remember when my Dad hit the $100K mark back in 1986, we partied and had a good ole time he was SO HAPPY! Now almost 30 years later you would think it wouldn't go that far but it CAN if you are frugal and not dead set on proving to the Joneses you can keep up....

once I pass the CPA exam in '15, I'll be asking for $100K minimum.

From the previous thread, posted by meagan22...

Money isn't my primary motivator, but I am in the process of switching from a MA in Clinical Counceling Psych to an MA in Industrial Organizational Psych. A qualified consultant with a background in I.O. Psych can make a contract with a company and make tens of thousands of dollars in a few months. Naturally, you get a bigger slice of the pie when you own the consulting firm instead of being a lesser member of the team, but you can still get a nice chunk of change without being your own boss.
That's my current goal for my Masters degree (I will start January 2014). If you don't mind sharing, how much were you making using that degree? My research isn't showing good numbers (starting salary averaging between $13 and $21 per hour).

This is a great thread. I'm not at $100K yet, but I plan to be in a few years. I work in public health at the federal level. I'm also in the process of converting to being an officer in the Public Health Service Corps. More money and retirement at 20 years. Plus, I plan to keep working at retirement. Also, I'm one of those folk who believe you can make good money at whatever you like to do if you're willing to hustle for it. I don't consider myself a money-hungry person, but I do want to build wealth. I worked to hard to be in the struggle.

Under grad- biology while being in a scholars program that required public health courses. During undergrad I did a summer internship at a genetics company in Iceland and Project IMHOTEP at Morehouse. Grad- MPH in Community Health Ed. 6 months at an HIV/AIDS nonprofit. 1 year CDC fellowship. Then I went into my federal career. I didn't go to big name schools, but I made the most of each experience. Feel free to PM me if you'd like additional info.
