Accounting & Finance: Debits/Credits, Assets/Liabilities, IFRS/GAAP etc.

Hey!

Don't mind the title. I took the FAR (Financial Accounting & Reporting) exam today. I'm studying using (expensive) Becker! It was as bad as I thought it would be, but that could mean anything. The review materials I'm using covers a lot of material, but the exam I sat for only focused on a few topics! Luckily topics I studied. Except bonds. I'm horrible with the premium vs discount, and all the rate stuff that comes with it.

Test scores released in a few weeks so we shall see. Whatever the score, I'm moving on to Audit!

LOL. I don't think I took that much time! The test itself (at least FAR) is only 4 hours! 3 Testlets of 30 MCQ and 1 Testlet of Simulations (6 or 7). Hmmmmm...it could've been that much time studying. I stopped attending the classes and just started doing self study. Meh, I guess spread out over weeks doesn't make it too bad.

I have an accounting class this semester and I'm terrified! The book is freaking me out and I don't know if I'll be able to keep up with the work.

whatever you do don't get behind and practice, practice pratice. At least that's what my accounting instructor told us tonite!

Ha! Thanks Princess! Good luck to you too! I'm sure when you start law school you'll be posting legal jargon that will have my head spinning! LOL

Thanks Savvy! I was pretty worried about it! But it wasn't as hard or as bad as I thought it would be. Let's hope that translate into a 75 or higher! Audit plus two grad classes for my MBA will make it seem like I'm going to school full time! And working full time! Lord help me!

I have accounting for public administration. The teacher is cool but he is a poor teacher. So scatterbrained and confusing.

I like my instructor, and there's only like 12 of us in class so we get more one on one, I think I'm going to enjoy it! From my point of view a lot of time is spent practicing and understanding the concepts outside the classroom and you are pretty much self taught....in every accounting course and even the CPA they say it's not about being "smart" or having a high IQ, but PUTTING IN THE TIME TO STUDY. Let's hope that holds true as I have a schedule set up to do just that!
