I have done a few bar method classes and they are challenging, so dont underestimate them!
I liked it and was getting into excellent shape, but I was also on a very strict (lo-carb) diet, which probably had more of an effect on me seeing "tone".

yeah i am not underestimating any type of exercise at all. hell if yoga and pole dancing is challenging, then i expect this to be as well.

i'm just experimenting with all these different classes to see what i like. i have so many living social deals i need to cash in on.

aww, I love living social just for new classes! (Its how I tried boot camp and reformer the first times)

I underestimated barre simply because I didnt see folks sweating, and we were working in a small space against the bar. Haha, my feelings changed in the first ten minutes. Those movements taught me a new thing about muscle fatigue...its fun but tough. It gave me a small appreciation for the physical discipline and strength of ballerinas (my instructor was a retired ballerina from NY....mid-40's and her body was taut as a co-eds)

but thank you for your input savantrice!

you should take it. i've taken a class and it's no joke. i was like adora and went in like bwahahahahahahaha. definitely gave me a greater appreciation for ballerinas. not only do they work but they have to still look pretty and make it seem like it's effortless.

the barre class i went to required a lot of balance, control as well as working with your body weight. it was fun and challenging and i plan on taking a class again once i reach my goal weight

I did the DVDs and loved them. I found a studio in NY and will be taking classes later on. Right now, I workout with my trainer.

Took a couple of classes at Bar Method this week and wanted to get some recommendations (DVDs, YT channels, etc) for those doing the workouts at home? No classes in my city, but want to see if I can add it to my home routine...

The website sells DVDs Barmethod.com, the pure barre DVDs are good (Pure Barre: Pershing Square 1&2) and the Lotte Berk method if you can find the DVDs, they are to come by.
