^^^Ooooo. I've read several of his blog posts on NYT.com. They're always very enjoyable. I wonder if they're still up...

The column is still up. They just have new Frugal Travelers. I'm sure his writing in safe and secure in the archives.

Im thinking about doing something for my birthday next Dec. If I go anywhere other than that (starting grad school in March) it would be in the summer time. Im so overdue for a real vacay tho.

I'll be in Tanzania with my university in July.

I would really like to go somewhere in Canada but I don't want to go too far from the Midwestern border because I'd like to drive... Only problem is, I don't trust my car to make the trip.

I'd also like to return to Austria. It's not so much the country I miss, rather the friends I made. I really want to see them.

I'm hoping for one overseas trip this year (possibly back the UK, now that a good friend just accepted a teaching post in Leeds), or possibly finally doing the extended Scandinavian trip I've always wanted to do.*

As for domestic trips: I want to get back to NC for my family reunion and maybe to NOLA to check it out-- I've never been.

re: Air B'n'B -- my friend and I stayed in a great flat in London this past May. I'd highly recommend the service.
