About Ready 2 Cry -- Suggestions Please!
Issues with Re-doing Protective Style:
What I was going for: Two-toned yarn braids, to about mbl. I used 3 strands. I was to have black in the back and coffee (brown) in the front.
What happened: I made the braids way too long and it's taking forever to finish. I was redoing them one by one. (Yes, I washed my hair.) Since I used the same partings, but made the braids thicker, it is HEAVIER & BULKIER. The coffee (brown) is ok in moderation, but I did the entire front half of my head in it. I think it looks quite ratchet!
Out of desperation to shorten the braids in the back, I did the unthinkable. I grabbed the scissors and cut several inches & the burned tips off. Now they fall weird, in a blocky kind of way. And they are going to unravel.
Where I'm at now: Today is DAY 3 of Installation. I have a section about the size of my fist to do in the middle. I can't. My head is sore; my fingers are tired.... I really don't like it. It's a waste of yarn and time. Oh yeah, and I'm sick as a dog...(darn common cold...)
I managed to get all the braids up into a bun.
My question(s) to you: If you had been braiding your hair for 3 days, would you take it down? What would you do?
P.S. I was thinking about putting in some twists on Sunday night. Too much?"Authenticity is true beauty."
"Asking God why He gave us this hair, then praying for it to grow..." Stahp it!

I wouldnt take it down. I would get some wear out of it. Buns and low stress up-do's.
I would only take my hair down if it looked clownish. Is it really bad?Mango Smoothie...try one.

I'd say so...I mean the brown is not a natural brown--it is bright! That on top of my complexion and the black.......OH LORD! I really wish I could get some wear out of this. But I was thinking about how I'm looking for work right now, and is this the impression I want to give off? It looks ghetto, for lack of a better word

Oh ok. Well maybe you can replace the brown with black or just take it down if you feel it's not worth anymore time to fix. I would hate to spend so much time and things go sour too.

So sorry you're going through that! I can imagine the frustration after having that much time invested. I would probably take it down if I felt what you are expressing about the hairstyle. Or, perhaps just take out the brown and do it all in black. That's kind of the same thing that Olahh said, huh?
I'm not much help, but I hope you can find a solution that doesn't require a lot more time, so you can get some rest and FEEL BETTER!!

O my, ai, how I feel your pain. The first thing that pops in mind, I am going to shave darnit! Then walk free without headaches and heavy braids on my head but then again you may regret it.
I am sorry, as impatient as I am I don't really have a solution for you. Just hang in there and feel better.
ps. if you know a braider just buy more hair and go there. Treat yourself!

I've been there so I feel your pain. If I was in your situation here's what I'd do:
1. If your hair is long enough, I'd just cornrow the middle or put them in box braids.
2. I'd redo about 1/3 or 1/2 of the front by replacing it with black so that the brown looks like highlights.
3. I'd wear my hair in some form of updo or bun for the next two weeks or more
4. Try again when my stress level is gone down and I felt like dealing with it againFormally MzCuteBrownLeo

If you had been braiding your hair for 3 days, would you take it down? What would you do?
It depends upon how rachet I look and whether i'm tired. If i'm going to style for 3 days, I better wear it for the remaining week. Pin it up or something. But if my hair is jacked up, it's removed immediately.
