Oven Roasted Nappy Thoughts ♥ With a Side of Randomberry Sauce
Yes, the title is cheesy......
I was on this website where you can learn Spanish & and Spanish-speakers can learn English (it's basically a chat room) and lo and behold: This guy says, "I like Black women, but they're kinda weird about their hair. *don't touch it*"
I wasn't offended; I actually chuckled and added, "They don't want their weave to fall off."
Now before you stone me, I told him that not all Black women are that way & some like their hair touched......*tip toes off*

Aren't YOU Thankful For Nappy Random Thoughts?
Carry on...
In other hair pin news: I figured out how to use the long skinny ones I have (I think they're 2.5 inches). Rather than inserting them in halfway and turning 90 degrees (which is what I do with French rolls), I just slid three of them into my bun at 120-degree (?) angles to each other. (Imagine an X with a line down the middle.) This sucker ain't budging! I'm very glad.
Now the mathematician in me is evaluating hair pin length and width and their relation to amount and configuration of hair. Somehow I don't think anyone's written a research paper on this subject just yet...Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

Man am I going to have one hell of a detangle and trim session. I can already see it coming. Now what the hell kind of hairstyle am I going to wear for this wedding? I was hoping to get the yarn for my braids and do them on Friday, but didn't get out of the house early enough to pick it up before work (the shop is closed until Sunday). It's enough I don't even know what to wear to these things (someone else picked the dress out for me last time) and I was banking on to having a hairstyle I didn't have to "do" anything to. Dammit...I should just chop it all the f*ck off.
ETA: I'll just wear mini-twists and contemplate locs. Two weeks is long enough to consider it.Last edited by Mikalia42; 11-21-2012 at 11:56 PM.

I'm always 10 steps behind everything. But I saw this on a natural hair FB page, and it made me smile.
Thought I'd share...

^good to see you on, NM!
It's been a bit traumatic to know that I cannot control the thinning in my crown. I'm pretty good at hiding/minimizing it. The sides and back are as thick as ever. I saw it coming...I have the same thinning pattern as my mother.

locs are beautiful, but i love my loose natural hair. that's one reason that's stopping me from trying them. the main reason i'm reluctant though, is that i'm afraid of thinning at the base. however, that may not even happen to me...... *sigh* i guess if i can shave my head and survive that, anything is possible.
if i do start them, i'll probably opt for a little help in the length department. i know that takes away from the journey (imo) but i'm just not ready for short hair right now....
*off to research locs for the umpteenth time*"Authenticity is true beauty."

I've had locs before with short hair. Combed them out (like an idiot ) and now I remembered why I had them in the first place; no work required. Get up, fluff, maybe spray some water and keep it moving. I spend entirely way too much time on my hair, my ends and edges are taking a beating from the regular handling, detangling is a chore and I'm just too busy (and therefore tired) to keep up with it everyday. At least the mini-twists will give me a break. If I still want locs after two weeks, I can just interlock the roots like I used to and move on.

@ccmomof5: saw ya post in the last thread. i like to use amla, bhringraj (maka) and brahmi. those are my go to powders.
i went to my spot today to get my powders and they had everything but brahmi. so i will just have use my amla and maka. its all good. i can't wait to deep condish my hair with them again.
leaving the braids in definitely until end of december. i will wear my hair out for new years eve and then its right back up in mini braids for the next 6 months. no breaks.
