Zits: blackheads and whiteheads... Oh my!
Anyone else going through this. At this point in my life, I swear my skin has gotten worse than it was during my teen years. WTH? It's worse right around my period when I have zits erupting all over my face. Painful ones that have to be popped. OK, TMI. Sowee.
Then there are the backheads that I end up having to squeeze out of my face. Too graphic? Sowee. Fortunately my skin doesn't scar.
Anyone else going through this? I'm blaming mine on perimenopause.Last edited by Napia Mia; 01-21-2013 at 01:14 AM.

Yep. My skin was the oiliest it had been when I was in peri...deep zits that were sore...hated the ones around the crease of my nose. I even went to a skin care specialist who told me that many women go through the same thing.
the good news?
As my daddy's mother would tell me, "You'll have the softest skin as you get older" And she was right.

*raises hand*
I never had acne as a teenager. But once I hit 40, it started. Luckily, I only get 1 or 3 pimples at a time. On thing I've found that helps is when the pimple first appears, put calamine lotion on it overnight. It will dry that sucker right up and make it easier to pop in the morning or the next day.
Wanna hear something really tripped out? Over the past 2 weeks I've had this "rash" on my leg that would not go away. It started off small, and I tried to self-medicate with peroxide, calamine lotion, etc... thinking it was a bug bite or something. That thing grew and grew and got progressively worse. I finally went to the doctor yesterday and she told me it was ringworm. RINGWORM!!!! What the flapjacks is a grown-azz woman doing with ringworm??!!! Then, it made sense. My son gets it about once or twice a year ever since he started Kindergarten. It finally caught up with me. LOL!!!~Love the hair you have~

i had to give up cheese and take cod liver oil daily. I also dry my face with papertowels and never touch my face without washing my hands first. Hope that helps.

Re: Zits: blackheads and whiteheads... Oh my!
Could it be stress related?
My skin acts up monthly too but it took 4+ doctors to figure out my "seasonal allergies" (excema) were due to stress... exam stress... yep: I'm allergic to school.
Since then I've noticed that all my flare-ups were tied to stress. I use lotions and creams now to moisturize but mostly trying to deal with the root issue: why I'm feeling stressed at the moment, and try and fix that.----------It is not the eyes that are blind, but the hearts - Quran 22:46 ----------

You can try activated charcoal soap. The same people who make black soap manufacture it.
