Thinking of starting a business...Please Help
Hi everyone! I currently work in a Ross store, and we sell lots of designer clothes and accessories at discount prices. I was thinking of purchasing some items and reselling them on Ebay . Do you think this would be profitable? I get a 20% discount on most merchandise. And if you think it would be profitable, which items do you think would provide the greatest return? Thanks in advance!

hey Melanie, you in Philly, I got a couple resources for you. You know you can buy in lots just like Ross. I've seen winter coats in lots of 24 for as low as $5.00 a coat. I had a guy from NY who got $65 dresses for $1.00 a pc by the truck load and I would meet him at columbus flea market and get the dresses from him for $5 and sell them in Philly for $20.
You have a great idea but my daughter learned the hard way, you have to define your target market and have merchandise that target wants specifically. Mistake my daughter made, she had a lot of some high end jeans but she only ordered sized 0, 1 and 2...she went to NJ at the flea market where most of the girls were 6 and larger and all she did was piss people off, she had $45 jeans for $10 and sold like one pair dispite having lookers all day long. If she had targeted center city Philadelphia at lunch time where she would have met a higher percentage of 0, 1 and 2 size people she would have sold out.Instigating and waiting for the REVOLUTION to begin!

Yes, I'm in Philly! And because I work two jobs, I was thinking of starting small and just selling on Ebay. If it were going to be profitable, I might be able to work a few Saturday flea markets. I was really thinking about designer bags like Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Juicy Couture, etc.

Do a google search on Ebay stores. They are a full fledged industry. Can it be profitable? Yes, but you have to get the right wholesale prices in order for it to be worth it. Do your research.
