^^^^ I'm not a big fan of the "scalpy" look either. I went 5 months without a re-ti, but I did bow-down and used some gel and palm-rolled the front locs.
I plan to do another shampoo/plait this holiday weekend.

Now, with 80+ degree weather, I schedule my shampoo days for the early morning. By 11 am, I go outside in hot weather and let my hair air-dry.

I've been practicing stretching my re-tis as well. 5 mos and up seems like a really long time to me. lol . I wonder if I could ever get to a point where I could go for at least 6 mos or if I'd want to. We shall see. Right now, the most I've been able to manage is 7 weeks at a time.

I have not been wanting to do Anything to my hair lately as far as styling, but I finally gave in to a curly rod set and it came out rather cute. I'm happy that now, even with tight curls in, my hair rests just beyond my shoulders. =) I'm used to having long hair, but honestly anything beyond this point is just a bonus for me right now. My locs have allowed me to become so carefree. =)

I bit the bullet today and latched my straight and skinny problem child loc to its more healthy neighbor.......and then cut it off My latching stunk despite watching Dynamic Runner's brilliant tutorial. I'm a latch hook idiot and ended up using my fingers more than not. Oh, well, no more perfect sections for me. I feel.......empowered

People complain about having fuzzy locs. But I like 'em.

Early Morning Shampoo, Plaits, and a "little-bit" palm-rolling, but I just "air-dry" since the weather is so nice! Sunny and 78-85 degrees!
{It was a good cool breeze @ 10:30 am } I plan to take the plaits down Sunday. I want to add some more beads too.

I had a dream last night that I combed my locs out, and my loose hair ended up straight and a little past my shoulders, and then I started a new set again. What was that all about?

It can be difficult at times to dare defy mainstream beauty standards, but the consequences are so worth it when you're able to validate what you have while simultaneously inspiring others to do the same. Lock on ladies (and gents) *insert fist pump*!

It rained hard yesterday, and it was warm. I enjoyed being outside and getting drenched. My locs loved the rain as well; they always become so soft and fluffy after getting wet in the rain.
