Random Technology Thoughts
Previous: http://www.nappturality.com/forum/sh...ology-Thoughts
I am touch typing this in the Dvorak keyboard layout.
My brain has remained hyper-stimulated since finishing a typing exercise approximately thirty minutes ago. I may keep this system's input as Dvorak, to accelerate retention. Hrmm. Feels to be a rate of about fifteen (15) words per minute and more physically efficient. In Qwerty, my WPM is over 90. It feels strange to have each sentence painstakingly filtered around my Qwerty instincts, to be rendered from the very faint yet tangible impression of Dvorak. Welp, after this becomes easy and at least as fast, hopefully I'll have figured a viable method for me to master the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). I do know where "z" is, by the way. Woot!
Not bad for one exercise.Last edited by Intellexual; 05-31-2013 at 10:50 PM.

So I dropped my iPod several times, face down, on a concrete floor and you can imagine how we'll that went. So I got a replacement and got a rubber casing for it that quickly got tested and prove worthy of the money I spent. Oh and it was a reminder to do proper back ups regularly.

Alps Pointing Device- does anyone have this on their laptop and have problems with it? Damn cursor keeps moving erratically, though it has stopped for the meantime. Try to control it and it darts all over the place. I've got Windows 7 on my Acer and downloaded an Alps update for Windows 8. It was horrible. The problem became worse and then the browser page would start zooming in and out all the time. I did a system restore and things are fine for now.

I'm kinda creeped out by the fact that google remembers every search I do on all of my devices. Every time I do a search on my phone, and it brings up my last search topics from my laptop, I have to pause for a minute, and remind myself of the google account big brother.

Getting my Chromecast in a few days.
http://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome...ecast/#netflix
3 months free Netflix (even for existing subscribers) makes it too good to pass up. The geek value alone makes it worth $11. Amazon is sold out but Best Buy also has it with free shipping.

Oh, that's interesting. So instead of doing it the old-fashioned way with wires and cables and such, you just use that the stream the content. Too bad we're still holding on to our dinosaur of a tv for the living room. It's a nice size and the picture is good, but it doesn't have an HDMI slot. That joker will be there til it breaks though.

The Netflix offer is gone now. They are selling out everywhere and are back ordering. I hear you might be able to get one at an obscure Best Buy. Dang. They just went on the market yesterday!
