i think this video misses the true point of what a wash n go is, it's not to show off curl pattern. it's to wash and condition your hair and go on about your business.
whether or not it works for you as more to do with your own feelings about your hair, your expectations of wanting your hair to look a certain way (ie NOT the way it grows out of your scalp) than anything to do with whether or not one can wash n go.
i also can't do a standard wash n go without it resulting in tangles. what i do for days i want to wash n fro (loved that!) i wash with my hair in big twists /braids. let the big twists/braids hair dry a bit afterwards, apply leave in product and take them out before i have to start my day. that way a lot of the wet and loose time is shortened which results in fewer tanglesLast edited by GalaxyGirl2012; 06-23-2013 at 05:33 PM.

Funny video! I agree with Chacha, LBell, and GG - anyone can wash their hair, and GO. Not achieving the desired look, or having mega-tangles afterwards can just be major deterrents. For me, it's the tangling and knotting that have made wash 'n gos a no-go for the last couple years. I love the look of my wash 'n go puff, but I do NOT love the several hours long detangle sessions.
I plan to give them another try soon. Going to use techniques from another one of LBell's recommended YT ladies: cynthiarf.

^Agrees with the boldeds. What many natural women (still) wish for is that elusive wash 'n' go that results in curls...or else why would there be hundreds of YT videos on how to get and maintain (?) definition or 'try product ABC and get the hair you've always dreamed of'!"
^I've done this as well...especially in the warmer months. It keeps my hair calmer and not as dangled when it's time to redo.

Yep that was the point I was trying to make in my first post. WNG does not equal curly hair. It's a wash and go plain and simple.
For various logistical reasons I can't do a straight WNG anymore either, I do mine similar to what GG2012 described because after a certain length my hair tangled too much otherwise. But my point in my first post was that I disagreed with the premise that she *can't* WNG *because* she's a 4c.It's Cheap to be Pank. Come to the Pank Side.

Wash and go is just a wash and go. I think that many people want different stuff than what their hair does naturally; and they should just say that. It's like making a turkey and cheese sandwich and being shocked that it's not peanut butter and jelly when you bite into the finished product. UNREAL expectations will only leave you disappointed. Work with what you have already.

You guys take things so seriously. I found it humorous. I have "type 4" hair and this happened to me when I attempted the wash'n'go. I had the same reaction. I wasn't angry, just like "well there goes that idea." And if that gelled up fro wasn't cute to her, she doesn't have to wear it. And she has a right to be annoyed.
Just laugh at some things.

Well see...the thing about discussion forums is that they're a place for DISCUSSION...
I thought the video was funny too but I also thought the direction the discussion took (because that's what discussions do...they diverge onto different branches) was interesting and valuable so that's where I put my $0.02. No harm, no foul. *shrug*Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!

I know what a DISCUSSION is, but dissecting things til they are not enjoyable any more isn't gaining anything. Dissecting a joke is a lot like disecting a frog, you get to know a lot more about the frog...but the frog is dead.
Taking real issues and discussing them are important and insightful, finding the deep social struggles in a joke isn't. the joke was that when 4a/b/c girl try the wash n go's, they don't get curls like others they get gel fro's. And the joke was responding the the first feelings of that. Not that her hair isn't cute enough, or she hated her texture or anything like that. If she didn't like her natural hair, she wouldn't be on here.
lol, no hard feelings.Last edited by Moderator E; 06-25-2013 at 12:39 AM.
