IDGAD what people think I should take seriously or not. I post what I want (within forum rules).

    - I didn't think the video was funny

    - I don't agree with the premise of the video

    The end.

I contend that for every joke contains something that can resonate with the person viewing or hearing said joke...or not.

Seems the OP's video didn't resonate with everyone...and that's ok with me. I appreciate the different viewpoints.

I mean. . .we're still allowed to talk about this, right? NP ain't no amen choir type of place .

Just watched the vid. I thought it was funny, even though I didn't agree with the message. It does irks me when people make blanket statements in general. . .such as "Wash and goes don't work on nappy hair." If she had talked about how she doesn't like wash and goes on her own nappy hair, it might come across differently.

That aside, I still thought the video was entertaining. I don't do wash and goes myself so I can understand where she's coming from.
Thanks nappy friend for giving me a PANKing!

i loved the video! i have nappy nappy hair and i've always worn an wash and go. it never looked curly but i washed it and went anyway. now that it's shorter and i've colored it (relaxes it a bit), i do get some spiral action going on.
i think it looks pretty with or without curl patterns.

It's always funny to read old threads like this one. creola, did you read our responses?

This year I started following the Black Girl Curls method and now I only do wet-styling (not a true WNG as I'm drying my hair to 80% before I call it done). Also, for the first time in AGES, I now have a stylist I see every 12 weeks for a shape-up.

If you're not familiar with this method, it's easy to see how it might go against NP's mission. There's definitely a (tiny little) bit of "good hair" thinking in the user group. It reminds me of the early days of the online natural hair community when folks were searching for ways to be "natural but not nappy."

However, most people seem to understand the concept of "realistic expectations." There's a whole range of kinky hair textures represented, including those with coils that are smaller and tighter than mine (what would easily be classified as "4c"). Also, although most wet-style, there are many who do twistouts and some who do regular picked-out 'fros.

At this point in my life, after having worn nearly every natural hairstyle out here including locs, I reserve the right to wear my hair any way I damn well please. I truly DGAF what anyone thinks. Simply having a decent SHAPE (thanks to my stylist) means my hair looks good with or without "definition."
Hello, 2021. Glad to see you. Hope you're bringing us goodness and light this year!
