Default Can I oil my Scalp now?

Hello everyone, I have a question. I had my braidlocs installed last week. I have rinsed them a couple of times when I had a good sweat at the gym, but wont wash them till tonight. The problem is that myscalp is itching like crazy and my hair is real thin with a lot of scalp showing. I have a natural oil pomade that is made with JBCO and several other oils, I'm wondering if I can oil my scalp with this oil in hopes of controlling the itchies and helping it to fill in the gaps. I've heard that no oil should be used in the beginning, so I don't know what to do. I also hear that the more I wash my hair the sooner it will lock, I can do that since I go to the gym everyday, but my ends are loose and the braids are so small I can't braid them back up, so I'm thinking about just twirling them around with my fingers. What do you all thinK.To oil the scalp or not. Thanks

There is no hard and fast rule. If you oiled your scalp before locking up I don't see why you can't oil it now, though note your hair requirements may change. I oiled my scalp from the beginning. Personally, I don't see why you can't oil your scalp. My only caution would be to use your oil pomade sparingly so as to avoid buildup. As to how effective the oil will be in the fight against the itchies, I can't say. Try and see.
