    Question Hair Steamers?

Hello all! I have a pretty quick question about deep conditioning. To start off, I am not fully natural, I'm just transitioning. My hair has been getting pretty dry so I've been looking for ways to both ways to remedy that specially with winter coming. I also hope to find something that can carry into my natural hair care regimen once I am fully there.

So, I've been considering getting a conditioning cap to help deep condition my hair more fully but read on this blog about hair steamers: http://napturallycurly.com/moisturiz...itioning-hair/

They are a little more expensive that the caps but would it be a better investment than a conditioning cap? Do any of you have experience with either ... or both?
Or is there simply a better way of deep conditioning?

Let me know how you deep condition.

    Thanks!

Hi. I do not have a steamer yet but I did a lot of research online after seeing a few tutorials on youtube. Check some out. I found them very helpful. A steamer is my next major purchase. I would go for the steamer because you can use the steamer with deep conditioner in your hair to help it penetrate while also benefiting from the steam. You can eventually have both I hope. I find the conditioning cap comes in handy also with hair color. Instead of sitting under the loud hair dryer I use the quiet conditioning cap. Also, sometimes you may not feel like setting up the steamer and you can short cut time by using the cap.You can also switch them up by using steam when you need a lot of moisture and cap when just normal conditioning. If you do go with the steamer check them out on Amazon. Read the reviews too. The one on Youtube called the Betiful steamer seems very popular but I do not see what all the rage is about when it has to be propped up for you to use it and so many others just seem to have better features and fits the entire head comfortably for less money.I hope this helped. To sum it up. Go for the steamer first. Happy Hair Day!
P.S. Peeps have said that the Beutiful steamer does not fit the head fully.

Thanks Onnica, very helpful information! I'll defintely check around youtube. Idk why I didn't think to look around there I feel like youtube has everything haha! I don't think I'll be coloring my hair anytime soon [23 years & I still haven't ... always wanted to but I'm just too scare] so I might just start to save up for a steamer.

I had my hair steamed at a natural hair salon.

First, my hair was cleansed and conditioned, then she put some type of product in and "detangled". Had me sit under a steamer.

I really noticed no difference in my hair. It didnt really feel all that conditioned to me. I didn't like the hot water droplets falling on my face.

I get great results with using a plastic bag [cap] and my own products. I just let my body heat do the work.

I bought a hair streamer a while back. Total waste of money! Plastic caps work just as good. Right now that steamer is sitting in my junk room along with my Christmas tree. FYI The tree sees more play time than the steamer.

The key to using the steamer is to use it consistently. If used consistently you will notice a big difference in the moisture retention of your hair. I use my steamer once or twice a week. It is worth every penny I paid for it.

I get much better results from my steamer when I add lots of oil to the conditioner.
